About Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – by NHA The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is the most important industry-recognized certification from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) for healthcare professionals.
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) Training Program Description The Medical Assistant certificate program is designed to train students in basic medical assisting skills. Medical assistants are multi-faceted members of the medical office team who work closely with doctors, registered nurses, and other office personnel delivering patient care. The Medical Assistant program covers several subject areas including Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, Phlebotomy, EKG, and Medical Billing. Students also learn laboratory techniques, clinical and diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, the administration of medications, and first aid. Office practices, patient relations, medical law, and ethics are also covered in the program.
Competencies
• Ability to communicate with all types of patients “speak the patient’s language” and serve as the communication liaison between the busy physician and patients who are often afraid to ask questions.
• Clinical Competencies for the Medical Assistant are:
• Fundamental Procedures a. Perform handwashing.
• Wrap items for autoclaving. • Perform sterilization techniques.
• Dispose of biohazardous materials
• Practice Standard Precautions
